Kathmandu, Dec 30: A total of 64 political parties have submitted their closed lists under the proportional representation (PR) system for the upcoming election to the House of Representatives.
Political parties participating in the March 5 election were instructed to submit their PR closed lists at the Office of the Election Officer for the PR system, located at the Election Office in Bahadur Bhawan, on December 28 and 29.
According to Election Commission (EC) Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, 64 political parties had submitted their closed lists by early this morning.
The submitted lists include the names of 3,424 candidates from 64 political parties for 110 seats allocated under the PR system. Of the total parties, 54 are contesting the election with their own election symbols, while the remaining 10 parties will use a shared election symbol.
A total of 93 political parties had applied to the EC to participate in the election under the PR system. The EC will examine the submitted closed lists on January 4. Political parties will be given time from January 5 to 11 to make corrections or submit additional documents if required.
The final list of candidates under the PR system is scheduled to be published on February 3. #nepal #PR #election
