Japanese Envoy Toru pays courtesy call on Minister Dr Timilsina



Kathmandu, April 27:  Japanese Ambassador to Nepal, Maeda Toru, has paid a courtesy call on Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Dr Bikram Timilsina.

During the meeting held at the Communications Ministry, Singha common shared welfare and multi-dynamic collaboration in the context of 70 the year of establishment of Nepal-Japan diplomatic relations.

On the occasion, Minister Dr Timilsina expressed the belief that historical, friendly and trust-based relations between Nepal and Japan would further deepen in coming days.

Stating that Nepal has always been taking Japan as the reliable friend, not only the development partner, he underlined that the relations between the two countries could be taken to a new height through technology and innovation in a changing global context.

The Communications Minister mentioned that the government has forwarded digital transformation as national priority to make service deliver smooth, transparent and people-oriented, keeping information technology, artificial intelligence, cyber security, expansion of telecom service and digital governance in top priority.

He added that Japan’s technical support, investment, capacity building and exchange of experience would be very useful in these sectors.
Similarly, Japanese Ambassador Toru shared that there could be further collaboration between the two countries for speedy development of information technology in Nepal.

There is a huge potential between Japan and Nepal in the areas of expansion of digital infrastructures, technical human resources development and innovation and investment promotion, he underscored.

Ambassador Toru opined that both countries could get mutual benefits relating power of Nepal’s youths and Japan’s technical and managerial experiences. Sharing that around 300,000 Nepalese are living in Japan, he stated that of them, a large number of Nepalese is associated to information technology, engineering, service and technology sectors.

A campaign of digital transformation could be expedited if skill, experience and capital of Nepali diaspora in Japan could be attracted, underlined the Japanese Envoy, adding Japanese investment could be attracted in technology-based industries, software development, startup ecosystem and digital service sectors in Nepal. #nepal #rss
