Kathmandu, July 15: Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel said that the government has given high priority to the use and expansion of information technology in schools and universities.
He shared that the Ministry is advancing the necessary policies and programs to link digitization, inclusion and digital skill development with the education system.
Speaking at a national round-table discussion on ‘innovation, technology transfer, talent development and accelerating Nepal’s digital economy through global cooperation’ in collaboration with ICT Committee under Information Technology Society (ITS) Nepal and Nepal Chamber here on Wednesday, he said the Ministry of Education and Sports in collaboration with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and concerned organizations hosted the interaction with entrepreneurs and experts in the technology sector with the aim of connecting universities with the information technology (IT) industry and encouraging the youth in this field.
Likewise, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Mahabir Pun mentioned that there is great potential in the information technology sector in Nepal and said that the government is committed to creating an environment for creating jobs for the youth through this sector.
He said information technology is an area where high income can be earned based on skills and efficiency with relatively low investment, and it will also help the economic development of the country along with the prosperity of individuals.
The participants in the program mentioned that there is a wide potential in the information technology sector in Nepal and held the opinion that government priorities and private sector cooperation in this field will contribute significantly to quality, life-saving education, job creation and economic prosperity.
They also expressed their commitment to continue their active participation and cooperation in the initiatives of the government. #nepal #rss
