National Assembly Meeting, 2026

Kathmandu, July 15: The National Assembly has been adjourned until July 31, with Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal announcing the next meeting during Wednesday’s session of the upper house.

Earlier in the meeting, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam, on behalf of Prime Minister Balendra Shah, tabled the Annual Report of the Office of the Attorney General for the fiscal year 2081/82.

Chairperson Dahal also informed the House about a communication received from the Office of the President regarding the authentication of several bills recently passed by the Federal Parliament.

Lawmakers Raise Concerns Over Disaster Preparedness and Governance

During the special hour of the meeting, National Assembly member Kamala Pant stressed the need to strengthen disaster preparedness and improve good governance.

She urged the government to prioritise increasing agricultural production, improving governance, strengthening disaster management, protecting workers’ rights and controlling inflation.

Pant said the recently approved Code of Conduct (Integrity Policy) should be implemented effectively to curb corruption, reduce ethical misconduct and promote accountability in public administration.

She also called on the government to identify disaster-prone areas and highways, improve early warning systems and promptly approve Nepal’s strategic plan on “Early Warning for All.”

Other lawmakers also drew the government’s attention to several pressing public concerns, including:

  • Protecting press freedom.
  • Ensuring the timely supply of chemical fertilisers to farmers.
  • Improving the health insurance system.
  • Addressing the drinking water shortage in the Tarai.
  • Increasing budget allocations for youth development and employment programmes.

The lawmakers urged the government to be more responsive and accountable to the needs and concerns of the public. #nepal
