Possibility of snowfall in high hilly and mountainous region due to westerly wind

KATHMANDU: The weather will be partly to generally cloudy throughout the country with chances of snowfall in the high hilly and mountainous region for three days due to the effect of westerly wind, said meteorologist Barun Poudel.

Poudel added that the weather would be partly cloudy in Sudurpashchim Province and some mountainous belt while it would be clear in rest of the parts in the country.

Meteorologist Poudel said that there was no possibility of occurrence of rainfall due to the impact of the Westerly wind but the mercury might dip due to the snowfall.

Poudel further shared that there was chances of light snowfall in some places of the high hilly and mountainous region due to the impact of the Westerly wind.

The Department has urged one and all to take precaution against cold as there is possibility of light to moderate snowfall in the high hilly and mountainous region, and of occurrence of fog in some parts of the Tarai region in the morning for three days.

According to the latest weather bulletin of the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the minimum temperature was 7.8 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature 21.6 degrees Celsius in Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours.

Similarly, the lowest minimum temperature of – 2.4 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jumla in the last 24 hours.
