214 deaths, 9,247 infection from coronavirus in 24 hours



KATHMANDU: The deadly coronavirus pandemic has killed additional 214 people in a single day. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 9,247 people have been infected in the last 24 hours.

The death toll rose again on Monday despite a three-day decline. At the same time, the number of deaths due to coronavirus infection in Nepal has reached 5,215. The death toll was 203 last Friday, 187 on Saturday and 145 on Sunday.

In the last 24 hours, 21,653 PCR tests have confirmed the infection in 9,198 people and 434 antigen tests have confirmed the infection in 49 people. At the same time, the total number of people infected with coronavirus in Nepal has reached 464,218.

Out of which, the number of active infected has reached one 113,480. Of the active cases, 106,510 are in home isolation and 6,970 are in institutional isolation. Similarly, there are 1,259 in ICU and 400 in ventilator, the ministry updated.

So far, the number of those who have been recovered is 355,223.

According to the Ministry, 2,346 people in Kathmandu, 742 in Kailali, 469 in Morang, 454 in Lalitpur, 434 in Kaski, 413 in Rupandehi, 378 in Banke and 313 in Bardiya have been infected with COVID-19.

Similarly, 300 coronavirus infections have been reported in Sunsari, 298 in Bhaktapur, 232 in Dhanusha, 218 in Kanchanpur, 196 in Surkhet, 174 in Jhapa, 137 in Dang, 130 in Mahottari and 124 in Makwanpur.

Likewise, 121 in Saptari, 98 in Parsa, 94 in Palpa, 91 in Kavrepalanchok, 85 in Syangja, 85 in Rautahat, 75 in Nuwakot, 67 in Chitwan, 65 in Gorkha, 64 in Sankhuwasabha, 63 in Dhankuta, 60 in Parbat, 60 in Ilam, 59 in Sindhupalchowk and 5 in Sindhupalchowk.

According to the ministry, coronavirus infection has been confirmed in 219 children under 9 years of age and 646 people in the age group of 10 to 19 years.
