DANG: Refilling tanks with 30,000 kiloliter fuel capacity and necessary equipment have arrived to store aviation fuel for the Tarigaun airport in Dang district.

According to Chief at Tulsipur Depot of Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) Bipin Kumar Shrestha, the contractor will begin their work within 8-10 days to construct fuel depot at the airport site.

The NOC has leased 5 Kattha of land from the airport to establish a fuel depot.

The equipment were brought from Mumbai, India to the customs office in Nepalgunj a month ago. Chief of the airport office Kailash Sharma informed that the refilling tank and necessary equipment had arrived on Saturday after custom clearance.

According to him, it is now necessary to bring equipment including bowsers to refuel the planes. The fuel supply system is maintained and operated by Nepal Oil Corporation.

As there was no fuel depot at the airport, the planes coming here have to go to Nepalgunj to refuel. Tulsipur sub-metropolitan mayor Ghanshyam Pandey’s special initiative has resumed air service that has been stopped for a long time.

Also, construction of new terminal building structures for the convenience of passengers at the airport has been completed.

At present, Nepal Airlines Corporation is operating two daily flights from the airport. Currently, the air service has been suspended due to the ban issued for the prevention and control of coronavirus.
