KANCHANPUR: Machines and tools have been distributed to small entrepreneurs of Shuklaphanta Municipality who have lost their jobs due to COVID-19. A total of 23 small entrepreneurs received such equipments. The support was provided by ACT Alliance, LWF and National Freed Haliya Federation of Nepal.
According to Shivi Luhar, President of Rastriya Mukta Haliya Samaj Kanchanpur, machines and tools have been distributed to four leather shoe entrepreneurs, nine involved in silk weaving, one involved in making wooden utensils, four running iron business, three retail shop operators, three vegetable traders and three poultry farmers.
Machines and materials worth Rs. 15,000 have been provided to each entrepreneur and businessman. “Out of 84 small entrepreneurs affected by the coronavirus of the municipality, machines and tools have been distributed to 23 people in the first phase,” said Chairman Luhar. “We will distribute such items to other small entrepreneurs in the second phase in a few days.”
Similarly, machines and tools will be distributed to 84 small entrepreneurs in Krishnapur municipality area on demand basis, he said. While distributing machines and tools to small entrepreneurs, Mayor Dil Bahadur Air said that the municipality was committed to provide necessary training and capital grant for running the business.
