KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Home Affairs has formed a five-member committee to investigate the death of one Nabina Tharu of Madhuwan municipality-2 in Bardiya on Monday.
The five-member committee coordinated by joint-secretary Hari Ghimire is assigned to present a field report about the incident within seven days of the commencement of it work.
The panel comprises deputy director general of Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation, Bed Kumar Dhakal; Superintendent of Nepal Police, Krishna Koirala; National Investigation Department deputy-investigation director Bikash Pandey and Ministry under-secretary Dhruba Khadka as its members.
The woman was allegedly killed in a police firing during a clash between the security force and Madhuwan folks who were demanding security from wild animals after a local was injured in a leopard attack.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Home Affairs Balkrishna Khand has informed in the parliament that the local administration didn’t give order for shooting at the protesters. He assured that the the action will be taken after the report of the probe committee.
