Kathmandu: The ruling Nepali Congress is leading in the vote-count tally in Kathmandu, constituency no.5.
Out of 24,900 votes counted so far, Pradip Poudel of the Nepali Congress has garnered 8,220 votes.
His closest contender CPN (UML)’s Senior Vice Chairman Ishwor Pokhrel has bagged 5,682 votes.
The difference of votes between Poudel and Pokhrel is 2,538, said Election Officer Rit Bahadur Pulami Magar.
There are a total 70,919 registered voters in this constituency and the voter turnout in Sunday’s the House of Representatives and Province Assembly elections was 45,997.
A total 29 candidates including 15 from parties and 14 independents were in the race for the HoR seat. —
