Kathmandu: Another five-party coalition formed after the breakup of the five-party ruling coalition has prepared to claim the leadership of the government today.
After the Nepali Congress took the stand of not giving up both the Prime Minister and the President posts in the power sharing meeting, CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has left the ruling coalition and has directly reached Balkot, residence of CPN UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, to meet him there.
In Balkot, the top leaders of UML, Maoist Center, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) are currently discussing about claiming the leadership of the government.
The UML and the Maoist Center made internal preparations for the power sharing at the Maoist Party Central Office Parisdanda from this morning. In Parisdanda, Maoist leaders Barshaman Pun, Devendra Paudel and other leaders and UML Vice Chairman Bishnu Paudel were engaged in internal preparations.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari has already called for the formation of the government by setting a deadline of 5 pm today with a majority. The Balkot meeting has prepared to go with the leadership of the government at 4 o’clock today.
The UML has 78 seats, Maoist Center has 32, RSP has 20, RPP has 14 and JSP has 12 seats in the House of Representatives. Out of the total 275 seats in the House, five parties have 156 seats. This is a sufficient number of seats to form a majority government with 138 seats required.
The new coalition can form all seven provincial governments, including President and House Speaker.
