Kathmandu: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Paudel has directed the staffers at the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and its subordinate bodies to work to meet the revenue collection target set by the government for the ongoing fiscal year 2022/23.
Minister Paudel instructed for the same in a discussion held with the officials of the MoF and its subordinate bodies at his office on Sunday. The internal and custom revenue collection as of mid-December 2022 has remained below the target.
Also, Paudel took stock of the reasons behind the revenue collection being less than the annual target with the Director Generals of the Inland Revenue Deparment and the Department of Customs, shared Ananda Kafle, Spokesperson at the MoF.
Minister Paudel demanded that there should a remarkable improvement in the revenue collection on a daily basis, said Spokesperson Kafle.
The Finance Minister also instructed the employees in the Ministry and subordinate bodies to devise action-plan and deliver on it to meet the revenue collection target.
The Minister pledged full cooperation, coordination and facilitation from the Ministry to the subordinate departments and offices in revenue mobilization, according to Kafle.
The instruction coming from the Minister also include combating smuggling of goods from the border points in coordination with the local administration and security agencies, facilitating trade and creating an enabling environment for the taxpayers to pay the taxes conveniently among others.
