Nepal resounding victory against Namibia in Tri-ODI series



Kathmandu, Feb 18: The home team Nepal won the third consecutive victory in the Triangular ODI series under the ICC World Cricket League 2.

Nepal defeated Namibia by three wickets in the match held at the University Cricket Ground on Saturday. Ashif Sheikh contributed 81 runs, Gyanendra Malla 65 runs, Kushal Malla 62 runs to give victory to Nepal.

Ashif hit 8 fours and 2 sixes in 98 balls. Gyanendra who played 74 balls hit 5 fours and 3 sixes while Kushal hit 6 fours and 4 sixes in 49 balls. Similarly, Rohit Paudel contributed 39 runs in 43 balls.

Before that, Namibia, who lost the toss and batted first, scored 274 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Zane Green played a half-century of 75 runs off 63 balls for Namibia. He hit 11 fours and 1 six. Similarly, Pikky Ya France scored 49 runs in 39 balls.

Lo-handre Louwrens was dismissed for 41 and Michael van Lingen was out for 22 runs while Karl Birkenstock added 20 runs. Captain Gerhard Erasmus and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton scored 15/15 runs apiece.

Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane took three wickets with 46 runs in 10 overs. Sandeep Lamichhane managed to complete 50 wickets in World Cup League 2 from this match. He is the third overall and the first player from Nepal to complete 50 wickets. Similarly, Karan KC’s name remained 1 wicket.

With the win, Nepal has collected 24 points in 27 matches. Nepal is in sixth place. Similarly, Namibia is in third place with 37 points from 33 matches.
