Kathmandu, March 27: President Ram Chandra Paudel has said that politics should be imbued with service to the society and the people. He expressed this opinion while speaking at the unveiling ceremony of Nabindra Raj Joshi’s statue built in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-19 Yatkha Kumari Temple complex on the occasion of the second memorial day of Nepali Congress leader and former minister late Nabindra Raj Joshi.
President Paudel emphasized that politics should be motivated by the highest determination, commitment and dedication to serve the people by understanding their joys and sorrows along with continuous closeness with the people.
“Joshi, who had a close relationship with the people and understood their joys and sorrows, was a personality overflowing with service towards the society and the people,” he remembered. President Paudel said Joshi’s untimely death was an irreparable loss for the country, the democratic movement of Nepal, a principled politician, the Joshi family and himself.
He discussed that Joshi has been established as a promising leader due to his integrity, progressive approach and firm stand in favor of the right thing and has succeeded in creating an image of a simple, modest, friendly, helpful and efficient politician.
On the occasion, Nepali Congress leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Prakashman Singh said that Joshi was a person who did politics of values, recognition and ideals to bring change in the country. “Nabindra was the person who fought for the recovery of the rights lost in the year 2017BS through the Nepal Student Union,” he said.
Joshi’s wife and MP Sapana Rajbhandari expressed her commitment to fulfill the political goals taken by Joshi. She said that making idols would keep Joshi alive.
On the same occasion, President Paudel also placed a wreath on the statue of martyr Nirgun Sthapith of the 2046 BS people’s movement. Joshi, who was born in Kathmandu, died on Chiat 13, 2077 BS. He was a member of Constituent Assembly, Minister of Industry, Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Founder President of Ganeshman Singh Study Institute and was involved in various social organizations.
