Kathmandu, April 24: The vote counting continues in all three constituencies of Tanahu, Chitwan and Bara. According to latest data, Rastriya Swatantra Party candidates in Tanahu and Chitwan have taken a lead of wide margin while in Bara, Janata Samajbadi Party Chairman Upendra Yadav was taking slight lead.
According to election officials, Dr Swarnim Wagle in Tanahu-1 was taking lead of more than 10,000 votes. He has received 26,827 votes while his nearest rival Govinda Bhattarai from Nepali Congress has garnered 15,454 votes. Mr Bhattarai has declared his defeat in the election and congratulated Dr Swarnim. Likewise, CPN UML candidate Sarbendra Khanal has received 7,289 votes.
Previously, Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel was elected from this constituency.
Likewise, in Chitwan, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane was taking a comfortable margin from the very beginning. According to latest data, he has secured 12,540 votes while his nearest rival Ram Prasad Neupane from CPN UML has garnered 3,573 votes. Nepali Congress candidate Jeet Narayan Shrestha has so far received 3,555 votes.
In Bara, JSP Chairman Upendra Yadav has received 3,781 votes while Shivachandra Kushwaha from Janamat Party has received 2,981 and Purushottam Poudel from CPN UML has garnered 1,640 votes. However, much hyped candidate from Rastriya Swotantra Party Mr Ramesh Kharel has received 708 votes only.
