Kathmandu, May 23: The Madhes provincial government led by Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) has been expanded. One and a half months after CPN (UML) left the government, the government has been expanded to include Nepali Congress and CPN (Unified Socialists).
On the recommendation of Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav, Provincial parliamentary party leader Krishna Yadav and Birendra Prasad Singh from Nepali Congress and Govind Bahadur Neupane, leader of parliamentary party from CPN (U S), joined the government with new responsibilities.
Congress’s Yadav has been given the responsibility of physical infrastructure and development, Singh of health and population and Samajwadi’s Neupane has been given the responsibility of land management, agriculture and cooperatives.
In a special ceremony held at Madhes Bhavan today, all the three ministers took the oath of office and secrecy before the Province Chief Harishankar Mishra.
With the reshuffle of the alliance at the center, the CPN (UML) left the Madhes state government. Four UML ministers and one state minister participating in Madhes Pradesh government submitted their collective resignation to Chief Minister Yadav. Despite the agreement to have a minister, the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP) has not participated in the government.
