Kathmandu, Oct 16 : International Forum for Social Justice has been formed here with the objective of eliminating the caste-based discrimination and the practice of untouchability the dalit community has been facing.
Dalit rights activist Dharam Bishwakarma is the coordinator of the Forum.
Dalit rights activist Saru Sunar said the Forum has been constituted for internationalizing the issues of the dalit community and making initiatives for preparing laws against the practice of caste-based untouchability in the countries concerned.
The two-day international conference on the role of emigrant Nepalis for ending the caste-based discrimination held recently in Kathmandu had decided to work on these two themes.
The members of the Forum are Dhana Bahadur Sarki (Europe), Gopal Bishwakarma (America), Sher Bahadur Sunar (Great Britain), Saru Sunar (Nepal), Jeevan Sunar (Kuwait), Nawaraj BK (Qatar), Baburam Bishwakarma (Dubai), Prem Paroyar (Norway), Balaram Sunar (Austria), Durga Bishwakarma (Portugal), Rajesh Sunar (Germany), Govinda BK (Hong Kong), Navin BK (China) and Dr Bishnu Maya Pariyar (America).
The conference reached to a conclusion that an alliance and combined efforts among all the Nepali dalit community residing across the world were needed to fight caste-based discrimination which had been worldwide with globalisation and migration.
The Summit was organised by several organisations including the Nepalese American Society for Oppressed Community (NASO) USA, and the Global Forum Against Caste-based Discrimination, seeking their strategic and effective mobilisation in Nepal’s Dalit Movement.
The conference, issuing a nine-point declaration, reached to a conclusion that an alliance and combined efforts among all the Nepali dalit community residing across the world were needed to fight caste-based discrimination which had been worldwide with globalisation and migration.
