Six-point agreement between government and doctors



Kathmandu, Sept 30: The talks between the government  and the agitating doctors today have ended in agreement.

Six points were agreed upon in the talks held at the Ministry of Home Affairs in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha.

According to the understanding, a reliable security system for health workers and health institutions will be provided, activating the security coordination committee, punishing the guilty in accordance with the law, taking action against the guilty even if the law is amended, and carrying out the necessary law amendment process, finding out the causes of the incidents of beatings and abuses.

It has been agreed to form a working group and the agitating party to withdraw the program of the agitation.

In the recent past, the protesting group had put forward demands such as immediate arrest and prosecution of those guilty of mistreatment of doctors in hospitals such as Pokhara, Chitwan, Hetauda, Kanchanpur, Belauri, Lamjung, Patan and ensuring the safety of doctors.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Dipendraraman Singh, Acting Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Population Dr. Shesharaj Ghimire, Coordinator of the Safe Workplace Struggle Committee for Health Workers. Along with the doctors have agreed to withdraw the protest program.
