Mugu, June 1: Two yarsa pickers died from altitude sickness in Mugu district.
The deceased have been identified as Man Bahadur Buda, 29, of Chhayanath Rara municipality-12 and Shovan Budha of the same municipality, said APF Police Constable, Tilak Baduwal.
Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Mugu, Birendra Thapa, said both of them were brought to Mugu for treatment after suffering from altitude sickness, but died in course of treatment.
Similarly, Raj Bahadur Sawad of Kampha village in Mugu district was also taken ill due to altitude sickness was being brought to Mugu village from Mugu Patan for treatment, he added.
Mugum Karmarong rural municipality has given permission to the people to collect the precious herb in more than 25 highlands of the district from May 7.
Meanwhile, a youth gone for highland to pick yarsa died after falling off a cliff in Darchula.
Milan Karki, 24, from Ratabhita of Apihimal rural municipality-3 in the district died after falling from the steep, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police, Shiva Bahadur Singh.
He had slid down from the steep near Kantaidonthe forest while collecting precious herb on Friday.
