Kathmandu: The Government of India has donated books, buses and ambulances to various organisations and educational institutions of Nepal on the occasion of its 73rd Independence Day.
A function was held to mark the Day at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu this morning.
On the occasion, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri hoisted the national flag of India, and read out a message sent by Indian President Ram Nath Kovind.
At the event, insurance funds were also been handed over to families and widows of the Nepalis killed while serving in the Indian Army.
Ambassador Puri handed over books of different kinds to various 40 social organisations and schools of Parsa, Sunsari, Kathmandu, Dhading, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Saptari, Dhankuta, Kailali, Ilam, Jhapa, Sankhuwasabha and Rupandehi.
Similarly, he provided keys to ambulances and vehicles to various 30 health institutions and social institutions across the country, the Institute of Medicine, Tribhuvan University and police school.
