Kathmandu, July 27: Santoo Shrestha of Nepal has been defeated in the preliminary stage in the table tennis competition under Paris Olympics 2024.
Santu lost to Senegal’s Ibrahima Diaw 4-0 in the preliminary round match. He lost 12-10, 11-3, 11-4 and 11-5.
In the men’s singles competition, Santoo was the last seed out of 67 players. According to the rule that players ranked above 64 should play the preliminary round, he played the first match against the 51st ranked player.
Although the winner of the preliminary round was supposed to enter the round of 64, Santoo did not make it to the last 64.
Santoo became the third Nepali player and the first table tennis player to play in the Olympics by winning the selection for Nepal. National champion Santoo, who has been living in Australia for the past few years, had prepared for the Olympics there. #nepal #tabletennis #santu
