Kathmandu, Aug 11: Nepali marathon runner Santoshi Shrestha has secured 79th place in women’s marathon category under Paris Olympics, 2024.
In the competition held today in Paris, Santoshi completed the prescribed distance with a time of 2 hours 55 minutes 6 seconds. She participated in the Olympics for the first time through ‘Wild Card’. A total of 92 women took part in the marathon.
Sifan Hasan from the Netherlands won the gold medal with completing the prescribed distance in two hours 22 minutes 55 seconds.
Shantoshi was the last Nepali player remained in the Paris Olympics.
Earlier, table tennis’ Santoo Shrestha, shooting’s Sushmita Nepal, swimming’s Duwana Lama and Alexander Shah, judo’s Manita Shrestha Pradhan and badminton’s Prince Dahal took part in the competition, but couldn’t earn any medals.
