Tourism Minister confers with Defense Minister, Nepali Army on aviation safety

Kathmandu, Aug 12: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pande, has conferred with Defense Minister Manbir Rai and Acting Chief of Nepali Army, Ashok Sigdel, on the issues relating to aviation safety on Sunday.

During the discussion held at ministry, the three dwelt on training and management of aviation safety in Nepali Army and how best practices could be replicated.

The Nepali Army suggested Tourism Minister Pande that ultramodern technology should be installed for early warning of weather to reduce the air accidents. Geographical diversity and erratic weather patterns were posing challenges to air safety, the Minister was reminded.

Minister Pande held the discussion on aviation security in the wake of two air accidents occurred within a month.

Minister Pande’s secretariat informed that he was also suggested for regular discussion, study, research and monitoring by forming a joint committee of representatives from Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, the International Civil Aviation Organization, and Nepali Army.

Minister Pande observed that Nepal Army’s air service was however excellent. It is essential to ensure safety to civil aviation as well, he added.

The Nepali Army officials shared that although the laws and systems were in place on the flight security, implementation was awaiting adequate attention.

Moreover, the Nepali Army informed that it had its own air safety guideline. #aviation #nepal
