Panchthar, Aug 25: A child has died after being struck by lightning in Panchthar while returning from school.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hemanta Bhandari Chhetri informed that 15-year-old Darshan Timsina, son of Dilliram Timsina from Tumbewa Rural Municipality-2, was struck by lightning while returning home from school at 3:10 today.
Darshan, a ninth-grade student at Indrani Secondary School tragically lost his life near Shaheed Park in Ward-3. His brother, 17-year-old Lovsan Timsina, who was with him at the time, was also injured.
Kamal Thapa, the outgoing ward president of Tumbeva Rural Municipality-3, mentioned that Lovsan, who was unconscious, received first aid at Mauwa Health Post before being transferred to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan for further treatment.
The District Police Office Panchthar has dispatched a team from the Area Police Office, Rabi, to investigate the incident.
