PHC conducts hearing of four proposed ambassadors



Kathmandu, Sept 2: Parliamentary Hearing Committee has conducted parliamentary hearing of proposed ambassadors to Israel, Malaysia, Pakistan and Portugal.

The meeting of the Committee held on Monday conducted hearing of proposed ambassadors—Prof Dhan Prasad Pandit, Dr Netra Prasad Timilsina, Rita Dhital and Prakash Mani Poudel. A cabinet meeting held on July 29 had recommended names of 17 people for ambassador to different countries.

On the occasion, proposed ambassador to Israel, Pandit said Nepal has been putting its clear point of view regarding long-term and peaceful resolution to political problems seen in Middle- East since the establishment of Israel.

He further said, “Political, educational, economic, educational, cultural and people-to-people-level relation between Nepal and Israel are getting stronger. As a result, it has supported tourism, commerce and trade promotion.”

Similarly, proposed ambassador to Malaysia, Dr Timilsina, said as the century-long people-to-people relations and contacts between Nepal and Malaysia has helped further strengthen bilateral relations.

There is a huge possibility to bring in Malaysian tourists to Nepal, he added.

Likewise, proposed ambassador to Pakistan, Dhital underlined that as a close neighbouring country, there is always support of Pakistan for political, economic, social and cultural development of Nepal.

“Exchange of high-level bilateral visit between Nepal and Pakistan has further strengthened relations between the two countries. Pakistan has been providing scholarship on different subjects like medical, engineering, pharmacy and journalism to 30 Nepali students every year”, she explained.

Proposed ambassador to Portugal, Poudel, shared that efforts would be taken to further strengthen various dimensions of bilateral relations making bilateral consultation mechanism between Nepal and Portugal more active.

“I will take initiatives for high-level political visit to Nepal from Portugal, one of the important labour destinations of Nepal in recent period”, he underlined.

Earlier, the Committee had conducted hearing of proposed ambassadors to India, China, Germany and Denmark. RSS #Nepal
