Kathmandu, Sept 27: A team of the Public Policy and Delegated Legislation Committee under the National Assembly has reviewed Langtang National Park area monitoring report.
The team prepared the report after making on-site inspection of the area few days ago.
In today’s meeting, the team informed the committee about the real situation in the park, wetland area, Rasuwagadhi crossing and Nuwakot Durbar area.
The team briefed the committee about the problem facing the locals and major initiatives to be taken by the government to address the problems.
The team made a conclusion that there were contradictions even on general issues due to lack of coordination between the local residents and the national park staff.
In the area, the locals had complained that they were annoyed by the provision that no industry could be operated within one kilometer of the boundary of the park.
President of Parliamentary Committee Maya Prasad Sharma informed that wildlife rampage has panicked the locals around the park.
The parliamentary team visited the national park and Nuwakot Palace from September 22 to 24. President Sharma stressed the need to speed up reconstruction of the palace, which has been halted due to Covid-19 pandemics.
The committee has pointed out the need for more in-depth discussions with government representatives and stakeholders about the problems surfaced in the areas around the park.
Sharma further informed that the team will visit Shuklaphanta, Banke and Bardia National Parks within a few days. #langtang #NA #parliament #rss
