Ruling parties firm on unity, national interest issues



Kathmandu, Oct 23: A meeting of political parties supporting the government was held today, focusing on the government’s progress in its first hundred days, current events, and maintaining a unified stance on national interests and issues.

During the meeting at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, it was emphasized that the government is working firmly and transparently on democratic principles, the rule of law, and public service.

Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak said that the implementation of the report prepared by the parliamentary inquiry committee on cooperative irregularities, which included the arrest of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane, following court approval.

Minister Lekhak noted that protests aimed at creating unwanted pressure over the court and government during ongoing judicial investigations into criminal cases are inappropriate. He mentioned that the ruling parties agreed to issue statements urging impartial progress in judicial inquiries and the democratic process.

General Secretary of the ruling Communist Party of Nepal (UML), Shankar Pokharel, stated that another meeting is scheduled for Kartik 9 to discuss the government’s achievements and future plans, and to publicly announce a common stance from the meeting.

Prime Minister Oli stressed the need for coalition parties to present a united front. He reaffirmed their commitment to democratic principles and made it clear that there would be no compromise on issues of national harmony and interests.

“We have fought for democracy. Democracy is the only acceptable form for us. We reject chaos and undesirable activities. We are committed to empowering the people with sovereignty, and our resolve in this regard will not diminish,” said Prime Minister Oli.

The meeting was attended by President of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba, Home Minister Lekhak, UML Senior Vice-Chairman Ishwar Pokharel, General Secretary Pokharel, joint chair of the Janata Samajwadi Party Renu Kumari Yadav, Vice-Chair Rajkishor Yadav, President of the Democratic Socialist Party Mahant Thakur, President of the Nagarik Unmukti Party Ranjita Shrestha, and President of the Janamat Party Dr CK Raut, among others.

Additionally, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to address the achievements of the government at 3 PM today from Singha Durbar, marking the completion of its first hundred days.
