Damak, Oct 24: A tragic accident in Kerkha, Jhapa, has resulted in the deaths of a grandfather and his granddaughter after they were hit by a night bus.
The victims of the tragic accident have been identified as 60-year-old Tek Bahadur Limbu and his 11-year-old granddaughter, Kripa Limbu, from Kamal Rural Municipality-3.
According to Arjun Prasad Sodari, an information officer at the district traffic police office, the accident occurred around 5:30 PM on Wednesday when a passenger night bus (Ba 1 Ja 4331) traveling from Kakadbhitta to Kathmandu hit the electric bicycle as they were crossing the road.
It was Kripa’s birthday, and her grandfather had taken her to buy a birthday cake. As they were returning home with the cake and meat, the bus collided with them.
The birthday cake and meat were scattered across the road, and the electric bicycle was damaged.
Following the incident, angry locals blocked the East-West Highway in protest. The bus involved in the accident was vandalized.
