Kathmandu, Dec 24: It has been agreed to separate Bir Hospital and Nepal Academy of Health Sciences (NAMS) after seven years.
During a meeting of the Law, Justice, and Human Rights Commission of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Tuesday, an agreement was reached to split the two entities in the future.
The meeting took place at Singha Durbar to discuss the Bill amending some of Nepal’s acts, including the National Academy of Medical Sciences, 2063 (2006).
Committee President Bimala Subedi stated that the meeting approved the provision in Clause-44 of the Bill to disintegrate Bir Hospital and NAMS after seven years.
Committee members Mahesh Bartaula, Ranju Kumari Jha, Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan, and Ram Kumar Rai believed that there should be one central hospital under government control, and Bir Hospital should be government-owned.
Health and Population Minister Pradip Paudel mentioned during the meeting that the government is working on a draft to amend the Drugs Act-2035 BS, and some practical challenges have been encountered in the process.
Discussions were also held during the meeting regarding Clause-12 of the Act, which concerns drug manufacturing, license terms, recommendation letters, certificates, and renewal issues. #health #nepal #bir #hospital#
