Kathmandu, Feb 13: The Nepali Congress has decided to hold the conventions of its various sister organizations on the scheduled dates.
During a meeting held on Thursday at the party’s central office in Sanepa with office bearers and representatives of sister organizations, it was decided to complete all the conventions within the Nepali month of Chaitra, 2081BS. Nepali Congress spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat stated that despite some challenges, the decision has been made to proceed with the conventions as planned.
He mentioned that discussions were held with the directive committees and heads of sister organizations regarding the preparations for the conventions.
Spokesperson Dr Mahat said, “To facilitate the conventions, senior leaders were included in directive committees, and it was decided that the conventions would be completed by the end of Chaitra. The discussions focused on the progress and how the party can assist in the process. Although some raised concerns about challenges, most expressed their commitment to holding the conventions on time.”
He further clarified that there would be no extension of the convention deadlines from the leadership level.
Congress has failed to hold conventions on a timely manner, and most of them are in ad-hoc system for years. It has become a trend of injecting pocket candidates in these organizations. #NepaliCongress
