
Kathmandu, March 15: General Secretary of the CPN UML, Shankar Pokharel, said inclusiveness is the pillar of federal republic.
During a talk programme organized at UML central party office on ‘women’s representation in p0olitics and politicians’ role to promote their representation’, General Secretary Pokharel reminded that inclusion was endorsed as a fundamental pillar of federal democratic republic.
The programme was organized by social welfare and social security department of the party on Saturday. On the occasion, he argued that women were backward because of socio-cultural factors.
Pokharel underlined the need for financially empowering the women. Similarly, we should strictly abide by the constitutional and electoral law on women representation for their empowerment, he asserted.
He, however, viewed UML had given adequate spaces for women in policy making level. UML is different from other parties in this term, Pokharel shared.
On the occasion, Vice Chairman Asta Laxmi Shakya said women movement was becoming weaker. She suggested all political parties to mainstream women by ensuring them rights. However, the rights guaranteed by constitution to women were not enforced in practice, she complained.#nepal #political #rss
