Kathmandu, March 19: Nepali Congress Chief Whip Shyam Kumar Ghimire has apologized after reviewing his statement made in House of Representatives.
During today’s emergency session of the House of Representatives, he expressed regret for his remarks made during the Chaitra 3, 2081 BS session. On that day, Chief Whip Ghimire had suggested legalizing the sex industry in the country to promoting tourism and earning foreign currency.
He clarified that his statement did not represent the views of the Nepali Congress or its parliamentary party but was his personal opinion.
“If my remarks have caused any negative impact on esteemed members of Parliament or the general public, I sincerely apologize while respecting their sentiments,” said MP Ghimire.
