Nepalis living abroad are soft power for Nepal: Foreign Minister

Dr Arzu Rana Deuba

Kathmandu, April 1: Minister for Foreign Affairs and Nepali Congress leader Dr.Arzu Rana Deuba has said that Nepalis living abroad are ‘soft power’ for the country.

Speaking at an interaction on ‘Nepalis abroad: Responsibilities of the Government and Role of Public Relations Committees’ organized by NC’s Public Relations Coordination Committee at the party’s central office in Sanepa on Thursday, she stressed the need to involve the second generation of Nepalis living abroad in the development of their motherland.

The second generation Nepalis living abroad are active in the politics in different countries, they are the soft power for us and we should recognize them,” she said. Dr Rana said that non-resident Nepali card is the most important issue at present and it is necessary to issue it.

You have been raising the issue of NRN card for a long time, there has been a delay in issuing the card and I appreciate the patience shown by all till date,” Minister Rana said.

She expressed confidence that the card would be issued soon as a stable government has been formed in Nepal. Stating that extensive discussions were held on the issue of NRNA card at the time of constitution drafting, Dr Rana said the NC was committed to issue it from the very beginning.#nepal #political #rss
