Nepal defeats Scotland by 2 wickets in T20I Tri-Series

Kathmandu, June 18: Nepal secured a thrilling two-wicket victory over Scotland in a low scoring Tri-Nation T20 International Series held at The Grange Cricket Club in Scotland. Chasing a modest target of 98 runs, Nepal reached the target in 19.5 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process.

Kushal Bhurtel was the top scorer with 30 runs while Dipendra Singh Airee contributed 14 runs, Basir Ahmad 13, and Kiran Thagunna scored 10 runs. Other batters failed to reach double digits, but Nepal managed to chase down the low total just in time.

For Scotland, Michael Leask and Safyaan Sharif picked up 2 wickets each, Brandon McMullen, Mark Watt, Jack Jarvis, and Jasper Davidson claimed one wicket each.

Earlier, batting first, Scotland were bowled out for 97 runs in 19.4 overs. Michael Leask was the standout performer, scoring 46 runs off 46 balls, including 4 fours and 1 six. Captain Matthew Cross contributed 15 runs, and Brandon McMullen chipped in with 10 runs.

Nepal’s leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane was the star, taking 4 wickets, Karan KC and Dipendra Singh Airee took 2 wickets each while Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi grabbed 1 wicket.

With this match, Karan KC completed 100 wickets in T20 Internationals, becoming the second Nepali bowler to reach the milestone after Sandeep Lamichhane.
