Prominent literary figure Bhandari passes away



Kathmandu: Prof Dr Durga Prasad Bhandari, an eminent literary figure of contemporary Nepali literature, has passed away on Saturday morning owing to pneumonia complication. He was 85.

Prose writer Bhandari, who was being treated at HAMS Hospital in Dhumbarahi, breathed his last at 11.30 am today, his family sources confirmed. Prof Dr Bhandari had taught English literature at Tribhuvan University for around 38 years. He has established his good name in Nepali literature as an eminent and vocal speaker.

Possessing elevated knowledge about global as well Nepali literature and a highly intellect personality, Bhandari also had a good command in English, Nepali and Sanskrit languages. He was a noted prose writer and a popular columnist. He has his four published anthology of prose including Mrigasthali, Roti, Niro Basuri Bajairahechha and Ful,

He also used to deliver speech on literature and contemporary affairs via radio programmes. Having ancestral home in Doti, Prof Dr Bhandari was a democrat by belief. He is survived by two sons.
