Kathmandu, July 2: The National Transmission Grid Company Limited (RPGCL) has signed grid connection agreements with five hydropower promoter companies. The agreement signing took place on Tuesday in the presence of Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka.
The grid connection agreements were signed by Engineer Sagar Shrestha, CEO of the National Transmission Grid Company, and representatives from SC Power Company Pvt. Ltd., Surma Sarobar Hydropower Pvt. Ltd., Mata Malika Energy Multiple Pvt. Ltd., Surya Holding Pvt. Ltd., and Himajal Hydropower Pvt. Ltd.
Minister Khadka stated that this agreement will contribute to achieving Nepal’s energy sector development goals. He emphasized, “The lack of proper promotion and investment management in the energy sector has posed a major obstacle to the country’s path to prosperity. Agreements like this will help bring necessary improvements in the energy sector.”
Energy Secretary Suresh Acharya and Electricity Regulatory Commission Chairperson Dr. Ram Prasad Dhital also remarked that such agreements will support Nepal in achieving its energy development goals set for 2035.
The hydropower projects involved in the agreement include:
- Tila-1 Hydropower Project (440 MW, Kalikot) promoted by SC Power Company Pvt. Ltd.
- Mahakali Seti Semi-Reservoir Hydropower Project (54 MW, Bajhang) promoted by Surma Sarobar Hydropower Pvt. Ltd.
- Malumela Seti River Peaking Hydropower Project (72 MW, Bajhang) promoted by Mata Malika Energy Multiple Pvt. Ltd.
- Upper Mewa Khola ‘A’ Hydropower Project (31.92 MW, Taplejung) promoted by Surya Holding Pvt. Ltd.
- Super Daraudi Hydropower Project (9.143 MW, Gorkha) promoted by Himajal Hydropower Pvt. Ltd.
