Kathmandu, July 8: Minister for Health and Population, Pradip Paudel, has announced that individuals injured during various people’s movements—including the armed conflict, people’s movement, and Madhesh movement—will be provided treatment through government funding.
The initiative aims to ensure full medical coverage for those injured in these historic movements, as well as for victims of natural disasters such as earthquakes. Although treatment had previously been provided through state funds, many did not receive complete care due to budget limitations.
To address this, Minister Paudel has approved a work procedure that allows public hospitals to be reimbursed for the cost of treatment. This step is expected to make the program more sustainable and systematic.
Under the new procedure, all government and community hospitals will be required to provide treatment to eligible individuals, with the Ministry of Health facilitating reimbursement to the respective health institutions.
A budget has already been allocated for this purpose in the upcoming fiscal year.
Ministry Spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki stated that the endorsement of this work procedure will help resolve long-standing challenges faced by those injured in various movements and disasters. #nepal #treatment #health
