Gwanga bags Badribikram Rastra Gaurav Award



Kathmandu, July 28: The Karmayogi Badribikram Thapa Memorial Service Trust has conferred the ‘Badribikram Rastra Gaurav Award’ on culture expert and litterateur Tejeshwor Babu Gwanga on Sunday.

The award was conferred on the culture expert amidst programme organized on the 103rd birth anniversary of Thapa and 28th establishment day of the Trust in federal capital. Gwanga was awarded for his untiring contribution to literature and culture. The award carries the purse of Rs 2,22,222 and a letter of appreciation.

Nepali Congress leader Dr Shekhar Koirala handed over the honour.

Also honoured on the occasion was noted social work and painter Mrs Urmila Garg. She also got the ‘Sewa Award Nepal’ carrying the amount- Rs 222,222.

Moreover, Sanu Kanchhi Tamang running a tea shop at Pulchowk, Lalitpur and Minu Malakar running a flower shop at Hanumandhoka, Kathmandu were provided the Labour Award carrying the amount of Rs 25,000 each.

The Trust make public the books- ‘Sewa Nepal, 2082’ and ‘Versatile personality Damannath Dhungana’.

The Trust handed over the educational materials to 100 students from Rhitambhara School, Khaniyakharka of Sindhuli district. A resting place at Banglamukhi of Lalitpur has been handed over monetary support, Rs 25,000.

Late Thapa was not an able administrator but also a noted figure in establishment of democracy, and social service in Nepal.
