Kathmandu, Dec 1: After weeks of intense debate, the Nepali Congress (NC), one of the largest party in Nepali politics, is finally set to hold its Central General Convention on January 10–12, 2026.

A meeting of the NC Central Committee, which concluded today, decided to conduct the Convention on the specified dates and complete the distribution of active party membership by December 6, according to party spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat.

As per the schedule endorsed by the meeting, the renewal of active membership must be completed by December 10, while all tasks related to the enrollment of new active members must be finalized by December 23.

The meeting also agreed to ensure inclusion and youth representation in the distribution of new active memberships. Conventions of liaison committees will be held by December 30, followed by village/municipal conventions by December 31, and provincial regional conventions by January 3.

Regional conventions and conventions in districts with only one constituency will be held by January 5. District conventions in districts with multiple constituencies will take place by January 6, while provincial conventions are scheduled for January 7–8.

Similarly, the Central Committee decided to extend the term of the Central Committee—which is set to end on December 9—until mid-February 2026.
