Kathmandu, Dec 22: The Nepali Army (NA) has stated that it fully respected the decisions of the President and the Executive while carrying out its role in normalizing the situation following the Gen Z movement in the country.
Clarifying its position, the NA said that as a major state institution, it is responsible for facilitating dialogue among stakeholders to promptly manage crises and prevent further escalation. “Although questions have been raised even over the positive coordination and dialogues conducted by the NA at a critical time, the Army neither advanced any political agenda nor showed any ambition to interfere in state power,” the NA said in an explanatory article provided to the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) today.
The article stressed that the current situation itself demonstrates the NA’s firm commitment to the democratic system. It reiterated that the Army remains dedicated to upholding the Constitution in both letter and spirit. “With a firm commitment to the Constitution, the Nepali Army works under the government for national unity and national security,” the statement said.
Rejecting allegations of political ambition, the NA clarified that while it facilitated efforts to end the political vacuum created in the aftermath of the Gen Z movement, it never sought to assume a political role. “If the NA had political ambitions, would the country be in its present situation?” the article questioned.
The NA further emphasized that objective analysis, rather than cursory remarks and observations, is essential to strengthening all security agencies, including the Nepali Army, and is ultimately in the broader interest of the nation. #nepal #NepalArmy
