Low visibility in Terai, snowfall forecast in mountainous regions



Kathmandu, Jan 1: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has reported that the continued influence of westerly winds is causing widespread fog and mist across most parts of the Terai region this afternoon. Some provinces are expected to experience partly cloudy conditions.

According to the department, dense fog is currently prevailing throughout the Terai. Partial cloud cover has been observed in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, with similar conditions forecast for Lumbini Province as well as the high hill and Himalayan regions of Karnali and Sudurpaschim.

The DHM has also forecast a possibility of light rain or snowfall at a few places in the high hill and Himalayan areas of Koshi, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Frost is likely to persist in some parts of the Terai tonight.

Meanwhile, the high hill and mountainous regions, including Karnali and Sudurpaschim, are expected to remain partly cloudy, while the rest of the country will experience mostly clear weather. There is also a chance of light rain or snowfall at one or two locations in the high hill and mountainous areas of Koshi, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

The department has warned that frost conditions in the Terai could adversely affect daily life, public health, and road transportation. It has urged the public to take necessary precautions and stay informed through regular weather updates. #nepal #weather
