Two people killed in a tiger attack

Bardiya: Two people have been killed in a tiger attack in Bardiya district. Mahendra Raj Wagle, chief of Division Forest Office, Bardiya, informed that two people were killed in the attack of Patebagh (tiger) near the old customs office in Madhuwan Municipality-3.

The deceased have been identified as Dinesh Chaudhary, 27, and Ramesh Tharu, 26, of Freed-Kamaiya residence at Madhuwan Municipality-3. According to Chief Wagle, Chaudhary, who had gone to the forest in the morning to look for mushrooms, did not return home till the afternoon.

The deceased are two brothers-in-law. In Madhuwan municipality, four people have been killed by a tiger in a week. In the past one and a half years, nine people have been killed in a tiger attack in the Bardiya National Park Buffer Zone and District Forest Area.

The tigers have attacked the locals who went to the forest to fetch firewood and even killed the locals after entering the village. The relatives of the deceased Chaudhary and Tharu have refused to receive the body saying that the tiger that repeatedly attacks people should be controlled.
