Karnali, Feb 4: Chief of Karnali Province, Yagya Raj Joshi, has said present development in the country is attributed to federalism.
In his inaugural address to a function organized on the occasion of the 8th establishment day of Province Assembly in Birendranagar, Surkhet on Wednesday, Province Chief Joshi viewed there was no point in demanding cancellation of province. It is not practical either, he added.
“The federalism has no option, but correction and strengthening. For it to happen, local levels’ resolution is imperative,” he said, pointing out the need for establishing Karnali Province as a prosperous province by shedding the tag of poor Karnali.
The Province Chief further explained the geographical and cultural features of Karnali Province, which he argued would be pillars of prosperity once utilized well. “How can Karnali Province be poor when it has a treasure of petroleum products,” Joshi wondered.
Similarly, Chief Minister Yam Lal Kandel asserted that provinces’ rights could not be usurped by anyone as long as the present constitution exists.
In his opinion, the central government formed in the wake of September uprising is not recognized by the present constitution. Although the beginning of the protest was decent, it later turned devastative, Kandel commented.
Other political leaders like Mangal Bahadur Shahi and Jivan Bahadur Shahi stressed the urgency of good governance. It is because of the federalism, Karnali achieved the present progress, they said univocally.#nepal #rss
