Kathmandu, March 28: Former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has termed his arrest “retaliatory” and politically motivated, following his detention by police on Saturday in connection with the deaths during the Gen-Z movement.
According to sources, Oli consulted with his legal team after police arrived at his residence with an arrest warrant. During the consultation, he strongly objected to the move, stating, “This arrest is driven by revenge. I will fight it legally—prepare for the legal battle.”
Oli held discussions with former Attorney General Ramesh Badal and senior advocate Tikaram Bhattarai.
Following the meeting, senior advocate Bhattarai claimed that the arrest lacks legal grounds. “There is no legal basis for this arrest. At first glance, it appears unlawful,” he told media.
Oli was arrested earlier in the day after the government decided to implement the recommendations of a probe commission that held him accountable for actions taken during the protests. Further legal proceedings are expected as the case moves forward. #nepal #kpoli #genz
