Kathmandu, March 29: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has arrested former Energy Minister and Nepali Congress leader Deepak Khadka today. According to sources, he was arrested in connection with money laundering charges.
Khadka came under scrutiny after illegal cash was reportedly found at his residence, which was set on fire during the Gen Z protests on September 9, 2025.
He has been accused of illegally occupying land and a building belonging to the Nepal Scouts in Lainchaur. According to the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), a company led by him — Khadka Land Development Pvt. Ltd.— had been using around 12 ropanis of Scout land unlawfully for years.
Security sources also confirmed that unauthorized money was discovered at his house during the arson incident. Additionally, Khadka faces allegations of misappropriation of the Nepal Scouts property in Lainchaur. #nepal #genz
