Kathmandu Metropolitan begin free PCR test from Sunday



KATHMANDU, Nov 21: Kathmandu Metropolitan City is all set to begin collecting swabs for free PCR test from tomorrow (Sunday).

Mayor of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Bidya Sundar Shakya has said that the work of collecting swabs for free PCR test of the people who fall within the criteria set by the Government of Nepal is being resumed.

Mayor Shakya said that the work of self-collection would also be resumed from tomorrow. He also said that preparations have been made to operate a mobile van to collect swabs for PCR testing of disabled and senior citizens, and undergoing contact tracing.

Stating that the Kathmandu Metropolitan City is preparing to widen the scope of testing, Mayor Shakya urged to conduct PCR test only for those who are in contact tracing and have symptoms.

He also said that effective steps have to be taken to break the cycle of coronavirus infection which has been increasing in the Valley recently.

Mayor Shakya said that the Kathmandu Valley Municipal Forum has already suggested the Covid-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC) to control the congestion in the market.
