Kathmandu, Jan 3: Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari said the writers should devote their literary creations for the country and the people.
Launching the memoir ‘Mother, Dream and Stars (Ama, Sapana Ra Taraharu)’ penned by CPN (UML)’s senior vice-chair Ishwar Pokharel here today, she underlined the need to connect literary writings with political, economic and social change.
“Writer Pokharel has extended substantial contributions to the political transformation of the country besides party unity, organizational consolidation and ideological strengthening through opinion articles and literary writings”, the former President appreciated.
Likewise, Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma urged former Presidents to take lead of social change rather than rejoining politics. “Pokharel has come to the present status in politics with inspiration from his mother. In the then time too, his mother easily accepted the inter-cast marriage of Ishwar. She had a feeling that no one should be subjected to hurt with mouth”, Sharma noted.
CPN (UML) deputy general secretary Pradeep Kumar Gyawali said that the memoir covers contemporary and real aspects of 100 years of fledgling Nepali society, family organization and disintegration, migration due to climate change.
“The politics and democracy that are currently in practice have not come free of cost, but there is a great struggle and sacrifice of many mothers and warriors like Ishwar Pokharel to bring Nepali society to the present state,” he said.
Critic Assistant Professor Dr Bindu Sharma viewed that there are plenty of emotional moments and themes in the work presented honestly in a reflective manner about the dedication and sacrifice of Nepali mothers.
Presenting his mother as a catalyst of change and transformation, author Pokharel in his book has attempted to present the issue as to how and where Nepali mothers have been projected in course of the social change in a surreal manner.
