Address citizen’s concern promptly: Home Minister

Kathmandu, June 1: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane visited three police range (Buddha, Gaushala and Maharajgunj) of Kathmandu.

During the visit last night, Home Minister Lamichhane took stock of the statue of the ranges, their working procedures, human resource, document management, use of technology and problems that they are facing.

He also inquired about the nature and number of complaints and reports received daily, the difficulties of investigation and the capacity of the detention rooms.

Home Minister Lamichhane instructed the heads of all three ranges to listen and respond to citizens’ complaints immediately, act in a victim-friendly manner and be serious in fulfilling their responsibilities.

Meanwhile, the Home Minister’s Secretariat has instructed the Maharajgunj range chief to submit a special security plan for the new bus park area within five days.

According to the Secretariat, Home Minister Lamichhane has started making on-site visits to police offices to suggest reforms so as to make police operations more efficient, to make suggestions for developing work plans and ultimately making the police organization more citizen-friendly, professional and resourceful.
