Advance bus ticket booking for Dashain from Saturday morning

Kathmandu: The government has opened advance ticket bookings in public transport from Saturday for passengers going home to celebrate Dashain, Tihar and Chhath festivals.

A meeting held at the Department of Transport Management decided to open advance ticket bookings for long and medium distances from the September 17.

In the meeting, it was decided that the transportation businessmen will make arrangements for online booking as much as possible, and the transportation businessmen will also provide discounts or concessions as much as possible to the passengers.

Saroj Sitaula, senior vice-president of the National Association of Nepal Transport Professionals, informed that long and medium distance bus tickets will be opened from Saturday morning.

It was also decided to effectively monitor advance ticket booking and passenger vehicles leaving the valley and entering the valley in cooperation with the traffic police, consumer forum, businessmen and workers, and taking into account the covid-19 epidemic.

It was decided to completely discourage unauthorized counters and the sale of tickets by people without identity cards, to repair the main road and send it to the relevant agencies to facilitate traffic operations, and to arrange the necessary vehicles for Dashain.

In order to facilitate traffic movement, the meeting decided to ban the operation of large vehicles, including trailers, except for the transportation of essential items such as food grains, from Narayanghat to Kathmandu from October 1 to 7.

Sunil Kunwar, General Manager of Lotse Multi-Purpose Pvt. Ltd., which is operating the new bus park, informed that preparations have been made to open advance ticket bookings from 7 am on Saturday morning.
