Kathmandu, May 6: The meeting of the ruling coalition concluded that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ does not need to take the vote of confidence again. At the meeting of Prime Minister’s Residence, Baluwatar today, the ruling coalition, including CPN (Maoist Centre), Nepali Congress, and Janata Samajwadi Party, concluded that there is no need for a vote of confidence.
After the meeting, the chief whip of the Maoist Centre, Hitraj Pandey, said, “There is no law that requires the Prime Minister to take a vote of confidence again. In today’s meeting, there was also a discussion on making the Parliament meeting effective from tomorrow.”
Chief Whip Pandey said that the Prime Minister asked for suggestions in the meeting as to what should be prioritized in the current budget and policies and programs. In the meeting, there was also a discussion on the parliamentary committee, appointment of the Chief Justice, and the progress of the citizenship bill. In the meeting, the Prime Minister also took suggestions from the advocates.
After the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) withdrew its support to the government, the meeting of the alliance came to the conclusion that the Prime Minister should not take a vote of confidence again. Current political issues, policies and programs of the government for the next fiscal year and budget were also discussed in the meeting.
Prime Minister Dahal and General Secretary of Maoist Centre Dev Prasad Gurung, leader Shakti Bahadur Basnet participated in the meeting.
Similarly, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka and Minister Dhanraj Gurung, CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal and General Secretary Ghanshyam Bhusal were also present. Janata Samajwadi Party President Upendra Yadav and leader Rajendra Shrestha, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party President Mahanth Thakur and others participated in the meeting.
